CMO Testing - An authentic scientific method
The great majority of scientific experiments performed worldwide on health risks from the use of devices emitting electromagnetic fields (EMF), such as mobile telephones and computer screens, attempt to evaluate direct causality links between these fields and lethal illness such as cancer and leukaemia. For these, investigators generally use emissions emanating from radiation generators and fields simulating the main electromagnetic characteristics of the polluting agent but not reproducing the EMF environmental reality of living subject exposure to the global radiation given off by actual devices in daily use.

For example a large number of biological studies concerning exposure to mobile telephones have been carried out using microwaves generators and therefore excluding the extremely low frequencies (ELF) invariably emitted by these devices . However these ELFs are recognized as being particularly bio-active, as they have been classified since 1998 by the NIEHS as being ‘possible carcinogens’ according to the classification of the international Agency for research in cancer (IARC) in category 2 B: i.e. ‘carcinogens with limited evidence’.

On the other hand the scientific method devised for CMO testing is innovative as has inspired a new approach among some independent scientists who have conducted experiments on biological effects induced by electromagnetic fields from emitting devices.

Indeed, for these studies carried out within the framework of university collaborations with CMO, the scientists chose for the first time in bioelectromagnetics a methodology, applied protocol procedures and followed a scientific logic usually applied in toxicology or used to test pollution levels. These studies are, to a certain extent, a finely turned precautionary approach and application of ‘the Precautionary Principle’. Surprisingly, some of these studied have been spontaneously carried out using this new method by inquisitive researchers even before the CMO team was informed of these investigations. All studies were carried out independently with freedom of publication for the authors in scientific peer-reviewed journals.

A technology which might alter the biological response to electromagnetic pollution by means of a compensating magnetic oscillation (CMO oscillators or antennas), developed by Tecnolab, being available to the scientists, comparative studies were carried out. These were between three types of exposure: subject exposure to radiating devices (group 2) and assessed (group 3) – on exposed subjects- the protective or compensatory capacity of the specific emission from the oscillator fixed on the radiating device. Living organisms ( humans and animals) were exposed to real working devices such as those sold to consumers (television sets, computers complying with the current standard, mobile telephones, portable computers) , that is to say a direct exposure to the whole electromagnetic spectrum emitting by each of these radiating devices, equipped or non-equipped with the adapted compensatory oscillator.

According to the usual scientific rules, the blind or double blind studies in humans, as for the animal studies, have been treated statistically. In animals, the blind tests were always duplicated a minimum of three times and involved a least a control group for each exposed group, an exposed group and an ‘exposed-protected’ group. The latter was equipped with the compensatory magnetic oscillator, conceived and specifically adapted to each type of polluting field.

The biocompatibility of any EMF radiating devices should be assessed taking into account the totality of its spectrum of frequencies, which includes harmonics, interferences, and resonance phenomena, exactly as they are received in reality by the organism exposed to them. The study results concerning these oscillators show that they compensate for the biological effects induced by the entire spectrum emitted by the tested devices, as much for ELF/VLF effects as thermal microwave effects.

This comparative method of evaluation of the biological response allows sciences to move forward on a sound basis in order to understand and discover innovative solutions to electromagnetic pollution issues.

Some research examples.

Embryogenesis

These experiments on chicken embryos are undertaken on 21 day old eggs through to the birth of the chick. The study had the objective of assessing the mortality rate with 5 combinations of mobile phones, CMO devices and microwave shields.



The control group experienced a 15% mortality rate, this rate shooting up to between 59%-77% when exposed to cell phone emissions. With the microwave elements of the emissions being shielded (by a mesh or by a commercially available shielding device), the mortality rate hit its maximum of 77%.

When the CMO device (shown here as the TecnoAO) was fitted to the phone, the mortality rate reduced to 27%.

Crucial findings of this research are;
  • Radiation emitted by GSM cellphones (Microwave and ELF (extremely low freqencies)) is toxic for chicken embryos
  • The elimination of the microwaves from the electromagnetic spectrum of the cellphone emissions does not reduce the toxicity. If anything, the toxicity is increased suggesting that a level of microwave radiation counters some of the issues being generated by the ELF radiation
  • Shielding a mobile phone for microwaves does not offer any potential benefits in this case, if anything shielding makes the situation worse
  • The toxic effect of the ELFs is compensated to a large degree by the CMO device
  • The harmlessness of the CMO device is also validated biologically

Physiology of the Human Respiratory System.

Evaluation of the rate of Nitric Oxide (NO) exhaled by Users of Mobile Telephones.

The aim of this experiment in Russia was to evaluate the changes in level of NO in the respiration of a mobile phone user.

Why do this test? The reason is that NO is a vasodilator (Definition: A vasodilator is a drug or chemical that relaxes the smooth muscle in blood vessels, which causes them to dilate) and is a marker of inflammation. An overproduction of NO is toxic for neurones and may lead to cell death.

In this 28 day experiment, 10 people used a mobile phone each day for 45 minutes. For the first 17 days, they experienced an increase of NO levels averaging 40% higher than the starting average.

From day 18 to day 28, the mobile phone use remained the same, but a CMO device was installed on the mobile phone. Normalisation of NO level occurred after these 11 days with the CMO.



Conclusions of this research are;
  • Using mobile telephones induced an increase of 40% in exhaled Nitric Oxide
  • Normalisation of the level of exhaled Nitric Oxide induced by the electromagnetic protection together with the reduction of symptoms previously observed without protection.

Can Results from Animal Experiments be Extrapolated to Humans?

Biological organisms share some highly conserved phyletic characteristics. For example, biogenic magnetite crystals bearing similar magnetic properties have been discovered in all species, either fossils or living organisms including humans. Magnetite is a ferromagnetic compound highly sensitive to environmental magnetic fields (EMFs).

According to much research, early developmental processes are similar and regulated by the same genes in virtually all the species. Furthermore, DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), which is the basic structure common to all living beings is sensitive to EMFs with which it can interact directly.

Based on these facts, it can be predicted that EMF-induced bioeffects in laboratory animals would also occur in humans. Compellingly, some experiments performed on humans sustain this assumption, with some researchers showing clearly the influence of EMFs on blood and pineal melatonin levels and that EMFs might be epileptogenic as shown to be the case in animals.
